Here is another building by Claude-Antoine Colombot, built in 1775. Along with the others on the same side of the street, this was one of the first large buildings in Besançon which was constructed for the singular purpose of renting. The facade is decorated with extreme simplicity, shown by the recesses created for both the first and second floor windows and the wrought iron railing of the balcony on the first floor. And what is rare for Besançon is that you can see masons’ marks on the cornice on the building at the back of the courtyard.
